This Privacy Policy explains how Brooks Benson 4 Utah, the candidate committee for Brooks Benson, candidate for Utah State Senate District 11 (“the campaign,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses and protects information when you visit brooksbenson4utah.com, sign up for updates, volunteer, donate or opt in to text messages.

Information We Collect

Information you give us: your name, email address, mobile phone number, city or ZIP code, volunteer availability and interests, and any comments you send us through our forms.

Text messaging consent records: when you opt in to text messages, we record the wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the page where you opted in, so we can honor and document your choice.

Donations: contributions are processed by WinRed or Venmo under their own privacy policies. We receive the contributor information that Utah campaign finance law requires us to report.

Information collected automatically: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, including pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location and the link or campaign that brought you here. Google Analytics uses cookies; you can block cookies in your browser settings.

How We Use Information

• To send campaign news, event and volunteer invitations, get-out-the-vote reminders and requests for donations, by the channels you chose.
• To coordinate volunteers and respond to your messages.
• To meet legal obligations, including campaign finance reporting to the State of Utah.
• To keep the site secure and improve it.

How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the campaign (such as website hosting, form processing, email delivery and donation processing), who may use it only to perform services for us; with government agencies when campaign finance law requires disclosure of contributors; and when otherwise required by law.

All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Text Messaging

If you opt in to text messages, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Brooks Benson 4 Utah at the mobile number you provided, including campaign updates, event and volunteer invitations, get-out-the-vote reminders, and requests for donations. Consent is not a condition of any donation, purchase, or support. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time. Text messaging opt-in data, consent and related collected personal information will not be shared with or sold to any third parties, unless required by law.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Your Choices

• Texts: reply STOP (or QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE) to any message, or contact us below.
• Email: use the unsubscribe link in any campaign email.
• Access, correction or deletion: email us and we will update or delete your information unless the law requires us to keep it (for example, contribution records).

Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. We keep contact information while the campaign is active and keep text messaging consent and opt-out records for at least four years after your last message so we can demonstrate compliance with the law.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes to how we handle text messaging data will not apply to consent you gave before the change without your agreement.
